Move over Dunkin’ Donuts.
America may “Run on Dunkin’ but Canada knows Tim Hortons is “Always Fresh.”
The Tim Horton chain was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario.
At first Tim Hortons restaurants offered only two products-coffee and donuts.
As consumer taste grew, so did the choices at Tim Hortons.
The biggest change IN 1976 was the introduction of the hugely successful Timbit, a bite sized donut hole.
More menu offerings followed. The breakfast sandwich, and iced cappuccino.
Do you Americans know of Tim Hortons?
Recently, my current husband took a road trip from New England to the mid-west.
He enthused about Tim Hortons, a restaurant chain he frequented in Ohio as cheaper and better than Dunkin’ Donuts.
We won’t talk about the cost of Starbucks, called, “More bucks.”
I have read fabulous bloggers through the years, many emanating from Canada.
Often they mentioned having Tim Hortons coffee to start the day.
Here in the Northeast USA we have no Tim Hortons.
Or, do we?
Tim Hortons is in New York City!
11 locations and growing fast.
THERE’S A NEW CUP IN TOWN
Tim Horton, born in 1930, was a NHL hockey player in Canada.
He retired from hockey and in 1964 opened his first Tim Horton Doughnut Shop in Hamilton, Ontario.
Tim Horton died in a car accident in 1974.
Today, firmly entrenched in Canada and growing exponentially in the US, Tim Hortons is expanding their coffee choices.
So, I have never seen a Tim Hortons or had their coffee or donuts.
